凯文·科恩（Kevin Kern）出生于底特律，在出生18个月的时候，不可思议的开始练弹钢琴。4岁时候，开始在一个私人指导老师的教授下学习弦乐和古钢琴。在14岁的时候，做了职业的首次演出，并且与其他伙伴成立了一个小乐团。他在底特律交响乐钢琴家 Mischa Kottler 指导下学习 ,并且上了密歇根大学的音乐系。受其钢琴类主席罗伯特·赫德指导。凯文·科恩（Kevin Kern）与著名的钢琴家 Jaki Byard、乔治·鲁塞尔、弗雷德·赫斯奇和威廉·托马斯·麦金利一起学习。在毕业以后，他在波士顿生活工作了10 年。在1990年，凯文·科恩（Kevin Kern）搬到旧金山，并且开始了表演。此时，凯文开始了他自己的钢琴流派，以钢琴为主体演绎音乐的心情和旋律，并且越发技艺成熟和浓厚。此时，凯文·科恩（Kevin Kern）完全傲立于钢琴演绎的顶峰！
